Featured Drainage Project
Location: West Fort Worth, Texas
Project Description:
Client was experiencing multiple water related issues at the residence. Built at the bottom of a hill requiring a 9-foot retaining wall, the property was experiencing a severe problem with the buildup of algae on the driveway due to a continuous flow of groundwater through the weepholes on the retaining wall. In addition, the topography of the building site, i.e., the negative slope of the driveway, prevented water after heavy rains from gravity-feeding to the street, leading to standing water, garage flooding, and foundation issues.
A common mistake in drainage work, this property had an existing French drain that was not installed low enough to intercept the groundwater effectively. To resolve the retaining wall issue, Advantage Drainage implemented a three-layer system of protection involving removal and installation of a new French drain at the necessary depth, the use of gravel to ensure proper water flow, and plastic sheeting for waterproofing the retaining wall. For the issue of the ponding water on the driveway, Advantage Drainage used directional boring to go under the concrete of the driveway to install a surface drainage system next to the corner of the garage to gravity feed the water to the storm drain. Note: This advanced use of directional boring is one of the techniques that sets Advantage Drainage apart.
